about

Florence Beatrice Smith Price was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, where at the age of four she played in her first piano recital. Her first composition was published when she was 11. She graduated high school at sixteen and went to study at New England Conservatory, where she received her Artist’s Diploma in 1906 and her teaching degree two years later. Her family moved to Chicago in 1928. Soon after, she won the Wanamaker Prize in Composition for her Sonata in E Minor and her Symphony in E Minor. Festal March comes from her collection, "Short Organ Works, Volume 2" published by ClarNan in 1995. Price's original publication date for this work is not listed.
